INFORMAL MINUTES OF OUR PPG MEETING
HELD ON THURSDAY 8th JUNE 2017 AT 12.30pm
We were introduced to our new Doctor to the practice, Dr Najia Sultan who joined us in today’s meeting. Welcome Doc.
MINUTES OF LAST MEETING
The last meetings minutes were approved.
We were also introduced and visited by the new Social Prescriber Shamimuz Zaman
Shamimuz explained just what he is now doing, and which areas he covers. He is able to offer help ad advice on a one-to-one basis on subjects like Housing, Benefits, Debt, and Social Issues just to mention a few.
He holds a surgery on Thursdays between 1.30 – 5.00pm. As demand is high, we advise booking appointments for him through reception. You do not require a GP referral to see him, just book an appointment.
QUALITY IMPROVEMENT TRAINING (Edenbridge Data)
Amongst the great deal of data coming out of this project is the fact that we are one of (if not the) the fastest growing practices in the nation.
6 YEARS AGO WE HAD 6,500 PATIENTS
WE NOW HAVE OVER 12,500 PATIENTS
The practice is continuing to grow although they have had to slightly reduce their catchment area (which will not affect presently registered patients), this would represent a tremendous growth rate in any industry. Further growth is expected in the next few years, so the practice must keep growing and adapting to accommodate them.
More information from this programme will be released once it becomes available.
Good news is on the way. The management are currently reviewing 2 new tried and tested telephone systems. The installation times for these systems is around 6 weeks, so with a bit of luck things will improve in a couple of months or so. Hurray!
There will be a Diabetes Awareness event in the practice open to any patients, will provide advice and help to anyone who has diabetes, cares for someone with diabetes, or just has an interest in it. The event will have specialist advisers in diabetes as well as Doctors from our own practice. Interpreters will be available. This will be held in a relaxed atmosphere, hopefully giving everyone a chance to have their questions answered.
The Event will be held on
Thursday 6th July 2017 at 11.00am.
at The Blithehale Medical Centre (where else!)
Directly following this event will be a shortened version of the next PPG Meeting.
Mark handed out a draft Page 1 for the new newsletter, which everyone was happy with, and asked for suggestions to be included for page 2. He was given more than enough to be going on with. The latest newsletter is hoped to be available from Reception and our blog-site in the next 2 weeks.
PAPER TOWELS IN THE TOILETS
Ron pointed out that there has been a problem with people blocking up the toilet bowls with paper towels. The practice management were aware of this problem, and are in negotiation with the building owners to introduce an alternative. The latest Dyson Air Jet hand dryer was amongst the suggested solutions.
(Ironically, on leaving the meeting I found that the disabled toilet had been blocked up with paper hand towels!)
ACCESS TO OUR ON-LINE SERVICES
As the practice have tightened up our on-line security, you will find that if you require access to use our extensive on-line services, when you apply for a password set-up, you will be asked to present formal photographic proof of identiy. You will also require this photo identity proof when you collect your password. This is to ensure that personal information does no go astray.
It was also pointed out that there are complications and unanswered questions regarding parents having on-line details of their children’s records. This will be looked into.
We congratulate the IT services to the practice in avoiding the recent IT disaster faced by the NHS Trust. Our data is safe and secure.
It was pointed out that there will be a meeting of the Tower Hamlets Autism Group at the Whitechapel Idea Store on Tuesday 27th July 2017 at 5.15pm. This meeting is open to all with an interest in Autism.
THE NEXT MEETING
The next meeting will be directly following the Diabetes Event on 6th July 2017 ( expected to be around the usual time of 12.30pm). Anyone registered with this practice is welcome to attend.
